Killa is the BEST! - We Did the Ausangate 5 day/4 Night trek and Lake Humanity day hike. We couldn't recommend Killa highly enough. They took care of every detail and ensured that we had... read more an unforgettable hike. Their camp setups each night were perfect, they brought the best chef on our hike who cooked us delicious, local 3-course meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day; and our guide (Frank) was the best guide you could ask for -- extremely knowledgeable about the terrain, customs, and people. He also made our adventure more fun and was able to take steps to help us deal with altitude sickness. Killa, killed it!
Amazing team & experience, highly recommend - We did 2 two days treks with Killa, the Machu Picchu & Inca trail 2 days and the Rainbow mountain 2 days treks. Both were amazing and will stay memorable... read more experiences. The staff was super professional, the team very responsive, the guide great, we enjoyed our time a lot, it really worth the money. They were also super helpful with extra things like organising a cab, dropping our bags, etc.
Rainbow trek 2 days: we passed amazing lands and communities already at the car drive, then we did full day hiking, saw the Ausangate mountain, learned about the highlands, had amazing food in the meantime cooked by chefs. Hygiene was top and also the tent, sleeping bag very confi with heating bag for the night. Waking up at 4700m in the morning was incredible and we were one of the first to visit the Rainbow mountains without any crowd. Only the altitude was thought.
Inka Trail & Machu Picchu 2 days
We hiked the Inca trail for one day, learned a lot how they lived and in the afternoon arriving from the sun gate and seeing Machu Picchu from there was special. The evening hotel and dinner was also super and then we explored Machu Picchu the day after, was good to have less people around in the morning.
Overall would highly recommend both treks and to do it with KILLA!
A trip we will never forget!! - Our tour exceeded all of our expectations, and then some. We could not have asked for a better tour guide, Henry, he was incredibly knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and just a fun... read more person to spend two days with!! Every single detail was so organized and planned out it really helped make the trip smooth. Even down to our driver, Rony, who was a very safe driver and was always early. I highly recommend Killa Expeditions for a trip you will never forget!!!!
I highly recommend Killa Expeditions!! They are truly the best and absolutely made my trip to Peru. I spent 2 days exploring the Andes with one of their guides, Frank,... read more who is amazing. He took me to Rainbow Mountain, Red Valley, and Lake Humantay. Throughout the weekend he went in-depth about the Inca culture and how they connect to nature. I cannot recommend this company enough. It was such a special and personalized experience. I will definitely be back to do one of their multiple day treks.
I participated in a 6D/5N Rainbow Mountain Trek with a group of eight friends, all visiting from Houston, TX (i.e., we were all accustomed to sea level). The team at... read more Killa Expeditions exceeded my expectations of what a trip like this could be in every way.
- Safety: At various points, several of the members of our group experienced altitude sickness or debilitating fatigue. The staff were well-prepared to carry the additional weight and coordinated creatively to have those individuals transported to the next camp site via alternative routes on horseback. Not only that, they also arranged for ill individuals to make it to the more scenic locations where we would take breaks, so that they wouldn't miss out on taking any of the amazing pictures we were able to get on this trip. And had the condition of our group members worsened, they had a contingency plan for evacuating them from the trek. Thankfully it didn't come to that!
- Comfort: The staff set up and tore down camp each night -- and not just the tents we stayed in. The staff also set up separate tents for cooking, dining, and a toilet. Each night, they would prepare hot water bottles wrapped in soft fabric that we could put at the bottom of our sleeping bags to keep our feet warm. And every morning they would come to each tent with a cup of tea and a basin of hot water for washing. Several of us accidentally got our socks and boots wet and the team took care of drying them out overnight using the cooking supplies.
- Nutrition: Each meal (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) had three courses, with a mix of local and familiar, heavy and light dishes (somehow they made everything from ceviche to pizza to cake), so that each person could have something to eat regardless of dietary preference or how they might be feeling. Even before and after the trek, Killa gave us amazing recommendations for restaurants where we had experiences I'm sure none of us will forget any time soon.
- Education: Our guide, Guido, provided relevant background and history at each stop to help us make the most of the trip and make it more than just sightseeing. At one stop, a local was passing by (expending much less effort, despite hiking in sandals!). Our guide spoke with him in the local language and traded some coca leaves in exchange for the chance to show us the slingshot he was carrying, apparently used for self-defense. Our guide grabbed a rock and slung it what seemed like several football fields into the distance.
- Company: The staff kept us in high spirits despite our tired lungs, encouraging us at every tough incline ("Don't look at how much you have to go! Instead, look at how far you have already come!") and making sure we weren't pushing too hard ("Take a break and take photos, my friends!"). We so enjoyed the company of our guide that we asked him to be our honored guest for our last group dinner in Cusco before heading back home, at a restaurant Killa had recommended to us with an amazing live show each night.
- Organization: This trip involves traveling by car, bus, train, even horse, all across different service providers as well as different lodging arrangements. At every turn, Killa made sure we had what we needed exactly when we needed (so that no one had a chance to lose an important document). It was about as worry-free as one could imagine. Even when we went to restaurants, our guide had local connections to make sure we could get the best tables and views.
This is a strenuous hike, just as Killa indicates on their web site. But, if you are able to do it, Killa will make sure you have an amazing time with unforgettable memories made.
My husband & I did the Ausangate 4 day/3 night trek, day hike to Lake Humantay, the Machu Picchu 2 night visit, the Sacred Valley tours, and walking tours... read more through Cusco last July '22. The whole experience was excellent, our guides, Jose (owner of the company) and his assistant Americo, were very knowledgeable, supportive, and professional. The trips were well organized and we learned so much about the culture and history of the areas. The trek through Ausangate was incredibly beautiful and we were treated to 3 gourmet meals a day prepared by our chef and his assistants, The tents were comfortable and the camps were set up and taken down each day by the porters. Horses carried our belongings and were available to ride if needed. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and kind. Jose has a tremendous depth of knowledge of the natural history of the mountains, the anthropology of the Incas and colonialism, and the current situation in Peru. We enjoyed our visits to the Sacred Valley and demonstrations by the Alpaca weavers. Machu Picchu was amazing and once again, Jose imparted in-depth knowledge of the site. The entire experience lived up to our expectations, a trip of a life time! I would not hesitate to recommend Killa Expeditions to anyone wanting to experience Peru's natural wonders and history in an authentic manner.

It was the best experience of my life. The trek was beautiful all the way. My guide Americano was amazing,... read more patience and well knowledge. Him and the team made my birthday so special, I felt like a princess all the way.
Thanks you so much for this wonderful experience.
Exceptional Guidance and Hospitality - Our guides and trekking team (porters/horsemen and cooks) we’re all incredible! (Our group of from elevation of zero and a few experienced altitude sickness and the team was very understanding and helpful.)
The logistics of all our travel days were smooth due to our guide Guido’s expertise. Throughout the trip he was able to teach us about the culture and history associated with the geography. The trip was not only an adventure but also an informative and rich cultural experience!
I was impressed by the services available on the hike— three generous and fresh cooked meals a day and a toilet tent. These amenities were unlike anything I’ve seen on a trail before- wonderful. The city hotels and meals included in our package were also luxurious.
My only critique was that the company lost track of a few of the add-ons I had already paid for. There seemed to be a bit of confusion over who had already paid for what through the initial booking. But it was all resolved quickly and professionally.
I couldn’t recommend Killa Expeditions enough! Thank you, Killa!
